DPIIT, Häfele India Ink MoU to Boost Local Manufacturing

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Häfele India’s recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) represents a significant step towards bolstering manufacturing innovation and strengthening localized supply chains within India. This collaborative agreement signifies a commitment from both the public and private sectors to cultivate a more robust and self-reliant manufacturing ecosystem.

The MoU’s likely focus on technology transfer, skill development, and collaborative research promises to stimulate innovation within the furniture and architectural hardware sectors, where Häfele India holds a prominent position. This infusion of advanced techniques and knowledge can contribute to increased productivity, improved product quality, and the development of indigenous manufacturing capabilities.

Furthermore, the emphasis on localized supply chains is crucial for mitigating risks associated with global dependencies and fostering greater economic resilience. By encouraging domestic sourcing of raw materials and components, the collaboration aims to reduce import reliance and create employment opportunities within the country.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director, DPIIT and Mr. Frank Schloeder, Managing Director – South Asia, Hafele India, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. It will remain in effect for a period of two years from the date of signing, with scope for extension based on mutual agreement.
