# Distinction marks his contributions to the media and communication industry through professional and academic work
Manoj Kumar Sharma, Founder and Managing Director of PR Guru, has been conferred an honorary doctorate in Mass Communication by American East Coast University in recognition of his contributions to public relations, strategic communication, media and communication education. The honour was presented at a glittering ceremony held at The LaLiT, Connaught Place, New Delhi.
With professional experience spanning public relations, advertising, media, journalism education and strategic communication, Sharma has worked across both the corporate and academic sectors. He has consistently focused on learning, practical communication and keeping pace with the changing needs of the media industry.
Sharma founded PR Guru in 2018 and continues to lead the organisation as its Founder and Managing Director. Under his leadership, the organisation works with clients across different sectors, offering public relations, strategic communication and media outreach services based on their specific communication needs.
Prior to establishing PR Guru, Sharma served as Director, PR at Goldmine Advertising from 2015 to 2018. He also worked as Consultant (Deputy Director) with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. During his tenure, he was involved in developing curricula, syllabi and new courses, besides teaching communication to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
His association with the education sector has been an important part of his professional journey. He served as Lecturer and Faculty In-charge of the BA Journalism programme at IILM , Lodhi Road , Delhi and later worked as Head of the Media Department at Wigan and Leigh College. He also served as Associate Professor and Head of the Mass Communication Department at NBA Group of Institutions and as Associate Professor at Maharaja Agrasen College.
His experience in both industry and academia has shaped his approach to communication, with a focus on practical knowledge, continuous learning and the evolving requirements of the media and communication sector.

Over the years, Sharma has also received honours including the Pride of India and Bharat Shri for his contributions to the media and social sectors.
American East Coast University recognised Sharma for his achievements, services to humanity and contributions to national development, with Mass Communication as his area of specialisation. The honorary doctorate was formally presented during the ceremony at The LaLiT, New Delhi.
